Today I’m teaming up with Old Time Pottery to share where we’ve found some of our favorite new wall art + a few tips for choosing the right pieces for your home.

DINING ROOM WALL DECOR
When Adam built these floating shelves, I was so excited to decorate them! But, because they are the only decor on that long wall, they are pretty big. I knew that I would need some large pieces to help fill the space, and I already had an “M” in mind.
We set out to Old Time Pottery with a $100 budget to find a large “M” for the floating shelves, some type of wall art for the adjacent dining room wall, and a filler piece for my coffee bar. And of course, Old Time Pottery never disappoints. I love that the wooden “M” we found has a light wood trim because it really helps tie together the dark brown and light brown shades in the space.
Tip: Even when decorating a large space like a shelf or mantle, don’t be afraid to add in some smaller pieces. Just because it’s a big area doesn’t mean that you need all big pieces. Find a few large pieces to use as focal points and then add in different sized items to make the area more interesting to the eye.
DINING ROOM WALL ART
Next up, the adjacent wall… It is a shorter wall, so my vision was to have a good sized piece of art. I wasn’t sure if it would be a canvas, framed art, or wooden piece, but I knew that I would just know when I saw it.
Old Time Pottery has thousands of options – framed and canvas art, wall decor, mirrors, clocks, you name it. But this canvas immediately caught my eye. I’m sharing a better look at it in my Instagram Stories today and will save that to my Home highlight for later viewing.
The texture and glitter accents of this piece are so gorgeous in person. I couldn’t believe that we snagged this canvas for $40!
Tip: Sometimes less is more. This is a hard one for me, but I really tried to adhere to that thought when decorating our farmhouse dining room. I wanted bigger statement pieces and less clutter. If you’re not sure what to put on a wall, try finding a large canvas or framed piece of art and see how that fills the area before adding more.
COFFEE BAR DECOR
If you follow me on Instagram, you know that this little coffee bar has also been a work in progress. For weeks, I had been struggling to finish decorating these floating shelves. I needed something for the top one, and I really wanted to bring in the lighter brown shades from the bottom two shelves.
That little framed “M” was scooped up so fast! It was the perfect size and had the light wood frame. Technically, it has hangers on the back to mount the piece on the wall, but I just have it standing up on the top shelf.
Tip: Don’t be afraid to re-purpose something! This little framed “M” is meant to be wall art, but it looks so cute sitting on that shelf. The pitcher on the top shelf in the dining room is obviously not meant to hold flowers, but again, so cute! If you find a piece you love, you can always find a way to make it work for the space.
I am happy to report that we came in well under budget, only spending about $70 on all three pieces! If you are looking for budget friendly wall art, or other home decor items, you should definitely check out your local Old Time Pottery!
