THROW A BACKYARD 4TH OF JULY PARTY

Today I’m teaming up with Old Time Pottery to show you how to throw a backyard 4th of July party! I’m sharing all the details on my patriotic decor + tips to ensure your 4th of July party is a success.

I have been compensated by Old Time Pottery for this post, however all opinions are 100% my own.

HOW TO THROW A BACKYARD 4TH OF JULY PARTY

Step 1: Choose the best place in your backyard to setup a table. This will help you get an idea of what type of decorations you want before shopping. I knew I wanted to hang patriotic bunting, so we chose to move our patio set into the grass so that I could attach bunting to the fence.

Step 2: Head to your local Old Time Pottery for decor. My Old Time Pottery store had great prices on flags, bunting, wreaths, bows, garlands, and more. They have everything you need to create a patriotic atmosphere outdoors, all while staying within your budget.

Step 3: Don’t forget your tablescape. Old Time Pottery had the cutest gingham placemats in both red/white and blue/white. I had such a hard time choosing between the two! Ultimately, I went with the blue/white and then added these red napkins to keep with the red/white/blue theme.

Step 4: Add servingware. I could have just thrown chip bags on the table, but instead I found this great chips/dip serving piece at Old Time Pottery. Adam requested donuts, so I placed them on this Old Time Pottery cake stand for another cute touch. Servingware elevates the tablescape, even if you are just having friends over for your backyard 4th of July Party.

MY BEST TIPS FOR A SUCCESSFUL PARTY

Grab some citronella candles – No one wants to deal with mosquitoes, so citronella candles are a must. My local Old Time Pottery did not have these, but they would be perfect for a backyard 4th of July party!

Create a playlist beforehand – I’m a big fan of having music playing in the background of any party/event. Even if the volume is low, it still creates a fun and welcoming atmosphere. By creating the playlist beforehand, you know exactly what songs will be playing and you can even mix in some patriotic songs to stay on theme.

Have some games set up – These can be great icebreakers, especially if some of your guests do not know each other very well. For a backyard 4th of July party, I recommend Cornhole or an oversized Jenga set.
