Summer Beach Reads 2019

I can’t believe how long it’s been since I shared some of my recent reads! I’m making up for it today with a ton of recommendations that would be perfect to devour by the beach or pool this Summer!

Thriller/Suspense

My Lovely Wife – I just finished this one over the weekend and it is probably my favorite book I’ve read in awhile. So many twists!! I am anxiously awaiting the author’s next book. This one is told from the husband’s POV (we never know his name). He and his wife + 2 kids have a pretty normal life, except for the fact that he & his wife Millicent are trying to get away with murder. I saw this described on Amazon as “Dexter meets Mr. & Mrs. Smith” and now, after reading it, I can say that was the perfect description!

The Widower’s Wife – This one was pretty fast paced & kept me guessing! While it’s not my favorite on this list, it was still worth the read. Ana Bacon falls off a cruise ship, and now her “wealthy” husband would like to collect her 10 million dollar life insurance.

The Good Girl – So this one was a little bit different from my normal thrillers, but I really liked it. It involves a kidnapping and is told from multiple points of view.

The Surrogate – Finished this one in a couple of days. It’s a quick & easy read with a couple of good twists. Kat & Nick want a baby so badly that they are willingly to trust Kat’s childhood friend Lisa to be their surrogate. But there is more to Lisa & Kat’s friendship than meets the eye.

The Other Woman – I loved this book! It is so frustratingly good (get ready to hate Emily’s future mother-in-law Pammie!!) + has a great ending.

The Neighbors – WOW! Not one of my normal thriller reads, but this one was super intense + has the most unexpected ending that you definitely won’t see coming. To me, the ending made this book.

The Wife Between Us – This one had so many twists! I don’t think I’ve read a book that surprised me as much as this one did. I really liked it. I can’t say much without giving this one away, but it was a good read!

The Wife – This one is very emotionally charged. At first, you think it’s just about an affair, but before you know it, you’re pulled into a huge web of lies, secrets, and betrayals.

ROMANCE

One Day in December – A 10 year love story in the making. One of my top favorites ever. This one will definitely pull at ALLLL the heartstrings!

Meet Cute – Much like the title, this one was really cute! Two old college flames/rivals meet & fall in love after both experiencing tragic losses.

OTHER BOOKS I’VE READ RECENTLY:

Playing with Matches – Sasha is a young matchmaker in New York, yet has trouble keeping her own relationship afloat. This one gave me The Devil Wears Prada vibes, but wasn’t my favorite recent read.

The Perfect Girlfriend – This one was okay. Basically, Juliette becomes obsessed with Nate and will do anything for them to be together. I didn’t love the ending of this book. It ended a little abruptly and I kept thinking there should have been more.

WHAT I’M READING NEXT:

The Silent Patient – So far, this book has gotten great reviews. I’m excited to start this one!
