PINK RUFFLED HEM TOP
Y’all, I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am to not only see that this pink ruffled hem top is back, but that it’s also ON SALE!! This was my favorite top last Spring & Summer because it is sooo easy to throw on, and it is SUPER flattering! I love that the handkerchief hem allows the ruffle to be flattering instead of bulky. One thing I have noticed about some peplum tops is that they end up adding bulk around my waist/hips. This pink ruffled hem top does not do that.
I also have it in black, but I’m seriously considering buying it in a few more colors because I love it so much. How pretty is that coral? And the cobalt? I want them both. For size reference, I am wearing the XS.
J BRAND JEANS
Now let’s talk denim. J Brand recently reached out to me about styling some of their new Nordstrom EXCLUSIVE styles. I jumped at the chance because I have always loved the fit of their jeans. These jeans look so amazing on. They’re designed to slim and sculpt and they do just that. In the past I may have balked at the $178 price tag, but not anymore. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized just when & why I should splurge on certain items.
When to splurge: For me, if it’s something that I’m going to wear/use over and over again; I consider splurging. I usually do not splurge on trendy dresses or tops. Instead, I think about investment pieces that I will be able to style multiple ways over time: denim, handbags, shoes, sunglasses. Think about cost per use.
And don’t forget about the fit. If the fit is amazing, you should consider the splurge. Chances are, once you’ve found the most amazing pair of jeans ever, no other jeans will compare. It can be so hard to find the right fit in denim, so if you do and then you decide not to purchase… you’ll regret it later. Trust me. Been there. Done that. Stood in the middle of a huge pile of discarded jeans in full-blown meltdown mode because they all looked horrible. Totally not one to be dramatic though… Ha
Another note to consider, especially when purchasing white denim – are they see-through? This is a HUGE deciding factor for me because it is so hard to find white denim that doesn’t show everything you’ve got. (And these are not see-through btw – WIN!)
Why to splurge on denim: With denim, I know that I’m going to get my money’s worth. Now, this may not be considered a “splurge” purchase for you, but for my teacher’s budget, a $178 pair of jeans is a splurge. However, back to that “cost per use.” I’ve already worn these J Brand jeans 5 times since they arrived last week (about $35 per wear so far), so I know that by the end of Summer, my cost per use (or wear in this case) will be MUCH lower, hence, worth the investment.
Final Note: J Brand jeans are worth the splurge! You will love the fit of them, and I truly cannot recommend this brand enough. All the heart eyes for J Brand.
