Today I’m featuring one of my favorite outfits for Fall and Winter, and it’s all about the neutrals! I love wearing neutrals because your outfit can look extra chic with very minimal effort. In my opinion, the key to chic is simply adding a little interest to your outfit. So to ensure that your next neutral look doesn’t fall flat, I’m sharing a few of my best tips!

Confession: I already have too many neutral pieces in my closet, but I can’t stop buying them. I love neutral toned sweaters and dresses because they are just so easy to style! This sweater, for example, would look completely different under an olive military jacket or with a plaid blanket scarf. And who doesn’t love versatile pieces? During the Fall and Winter, I mix and match my neutral bases with different cardigans, jackets, boots, and scarves.
The one thing I always try to think about when wearing neutrals is, “What is going to make this outfit more interesting?” That’s where the accessories come in. Today I paired my cream sweater with over the knee boots, a fun floppy hat, and (of course) a pop of leopard print. Focus on one or two key accessories that will dress up your look and show off your unique style! FYI, this ($26) leopard print scarf is one of my favorites from last year and it’s finally back in stock! I know it will sell out fast, as well as the $19 one that I linked below, so if you want it, you should grab it while you can. 😉
Another thing to consider: Sometimes wearing neutrals can make you look a washed out, especially without that Summertime glow. During the Fall and Winter months, I usually wear a bold lip color and/or a smokey eye to ensure I don’t get lost in a sea of neutrals.
Now because I’m an all or nothing kinda girl, I also wore big, statement earrings. However, if a scarf, hat, bold lip, and statement jewelry feels like too much for you, then just focus on one. A simple sweater, leggings, and boots combo can be transformed by a bold lip color. Consider trying a bright pink or red, a berry tone, or even a dark burgundy or brown.
Do you have any tips for wearing neutrals? I’d love to hear them!
