My KETO Shopping List + How I Stay Organized

keto-grocery-list-savilla-mountainHi friends! If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you know that I started the KETO diet back in February. So in today’s post, I’m sharing my KETO-friendly grocery shopping list, tips for shopping, and how I stay organized with some goodies that Erin Condren sent me.

I am not a doctor, nutritionist, or KETO coach, nor do I make any claims to be. I am sharing my personal experience with a KETO lifestyle. Please talk with your physician before making any changes to your diet. Links contain affiliate links which means I receive a small commission for your click or purchase.

WHAT I BUY EACH WEEK

Proteins: Chicken, Steak, Hot dogs, Eggs, Sausage, Atkins Meal Replacement Shakes

Fats: Heavy Whipping Cream, Shredded Cheddar Cheese, String Cheese, Sour Cream, Cream Cheese, Bacon, Butter, Ranch Dressing, MCT Oil (I order this kind on Amazon – a lot of people put this in their coffee, but I just swallow a tablespoon really quickly in the morning. It separates from coffee and can make a big mess. A quick tablespoon is the way to go on this).

Extras: Atkins treats (love the Chocolate Covered Almonds, Chocolate Nut Rolls, & Chocolate Covered Candies), Almond Flour, Splenda or Splenda Stevia, Coffee-Mate Sugar Free Chocolate Creamer (powder), Low-Carb Tortilla Wraps, Flavored Water Enhancers (I love the Cherry Kool-Aid flavor)

TIPS FOR SHOPPING

I am no expert on the KETO diet, but it’s pretty much the same as counting macros. I used this tool to determine what my carbohydrate, protein, and fat intake should be. That site has a ton of great information on KETO! Basically, you want to limit your carb intake and increase your fat to get your body in fat burning mode!

  1. Read ALL nutrition labels and focus on NET Carbs (Carbohydrates – Fiber – Sugar Alcohols = NET Carbs) – So I have been super strict with my carbohydrate intake, consuming only about 20 NET carbs a day. Again, this is super strict and not necessary for ketosis. I’ve read that even cutting your NET carbs to anywhere between 30-50 grams can impact weight loss.
  2. If you’re serious about KETO, I highly suggest ordering these so you can see when you are in Ketosis. If you’re not, add more fat to your diet!
  3. This sounds silly, but don’t go to the grocery store if you’re hungry!!! This makes it sooo much harder to stay on track. Also, if you need something sweet, the Atkins treats are awesome, and there are a ton of easy “fat bomb” recipes on Pinterest. These help with the cravings + are an easy way to add fat into your diet.

HOW I STAY ORGANIZED

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again… Erin Condren is everything!!! I have used the Life Planner to keep up with all things blog & school related for the past 4 years. So, when it was time to get organized with my diet, I knew exactly where to shop for some new organization goodies!

I use this meal planner daily. It is the perfect size to fit in your purse, which makes it easy to keep with you at all times. You can plan a week’s worth of meals (breakfast/lunch/dinner), make grocery lists, add reminders, track prices, & even record recipes all in this petite sized planner. I love it!! Plus it has cute stickers which makes the planning process more fun. 😉

I also use this notebook for keeping notes, additional recipes, weekly to-do lists, and weight logs. I chose the productivity layout because I love the bullets on the side. It’s great for writing your recipe ingredients, or checking things off your to-do list. Basically, my Type A heart loves a good list where I can check things off!

I love technology, but there’s just something about actually writing down my goals, meals, etc. that really helps me stay accountable and invested.

Did you like this post? Are Keto related posts something you want to see more of on the blog? I could share some of my favorite recipes, what I’ve learned along the way, etc. Just let me know in the comments!
