Mane Attraction

Hey loves! I get a lot of questions about how I curl my hair and what products I use, so I thought I would do a quick post to show you my favorite products. (Links to shop are at the end). I honestly don’t really use a lot of products on my hair. My hair is naturally very curly and dry, so it tends to hold curl very well. I have tried many products in the past to try to combat the dryness, but it seems that when I try something new, because my hair is long, it weighs it down and almost instantly makes it look oily. Also, when my hair is very soft and silky from products, it doesn’t hold the curl as well, and turns flat.

So, with that being said, here are the products I use daily. I alternate between shampoos and conditioners every so often. When I feel like my hair is getting weighed down, I switch. The two brands that I go back and forth between are Biolage & Pantene. I use the Biolage that is for color treated hair. I haven’t colored my hair in a long time, but back in the day when it was blonde, I used this and it always worked great for my hair, so I just never switched. I use the Pantene Beautiful Lengths. I’ve found that sometimes when I get a shampoo/conditioner that is for volume or shininess, it just doesn’t work well for my hair.

The two products that I cannot live without are my Big Sexy Hair: Spray & Play hairspray and Batiste dry shampoo. Seriously, these are game changers! I am somewhat of a hairspray fanatic, which must come from living in the South with all the humidity, but I layer it on! And the best part about Big Sexy Hair is that I really don’t need to, but even when I do, my hair still doesn’t feel crunchy or hard. It is still very soft, but the curl holds for days. With the Batiste dry shampoo, I only wash my hair every 3-4 days. And honestly day 3 & 4 hair is the BEST hair! The pictures above were day 3 hair. Batiste is seriously the best! It doesn’t make my hair feel too tacky, it removes oil, and lifts for some added volume. I love, love, love it! After curling my hair on the first day, I just use hairspray. The 2nd, 3rd, and sometimes 4th days, I add the dry shampoo on my crown and sometimes around my face/ear areas. I touch up my curls and then fluff it and go!

As far as my curling wand goes, I use an old Revlon 1″ wand. It doesn’t get smaller at the end, it is 1 inch all the way to the end of the barrel. I have had the same one from years and after doing some research online, it appears that my model has been updated! I may have a small meltdown when mine finally bites the dust. Here is a link to my exact model on Amazon and here is the updated version. (Not sure what to think about this one, but it’s worth a try!) I originally paid around $18 for mine. The trick of the wand is to point it downward and wrap your hair back, or away from your face. Hope you enjoy these products as much as I do!

Happy shopping!
