Happy Thanksgiving! What a year it has been for VFB! I have had the opportunity to work with so many beloved brands, meet some amazing women, and make true and lasting connections with the most wonderful people. When I started this blog in January 2015, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. As I have been thinking about my upcoming 3 year “blogiversary,” I began to look back at a few photos from the very beginning.
Check out that iPhone photography.
Before I had eyebrows (and Botox).
I finally have eyebrows! This is when I started to dabble in makeup… my now 2nd love.
Starting to learn a little more about photography.
Got my 1st DSLR camera, but still learning how to use it. (Best blogging investment you can make!)
October 2017 – I FINALLY feel that after 2 years, I have hit my blogging stride. I understand the amount of work, dedication, and sacrifice it takes to have a place in this industry. In the past, I made a half-hearted effort. Yes, blogging/fashion/makeup is something I have loved for awhile. But until the last few months, I hadn’t truly given it my all. I mean, I work full-time. I love my teaching job, and would never want to give that up. But for a long time, I would use that as an excuse to not give my all to this dream as well.
Lately, I feel as though a spark has been lit for me again. I wake up at 4 in the morning bursting with ideas for my blog, for my reading small groups at school, and for how I’m going to fit everything into my day. It’s true what they say, “Dreams don’t work unless you do.” And that’s what I’ve been doing. Working, working, and then working some more. I give my all to my 1st graders, and then I come home and give my all to my blog. And honestly, I feel more fulfilled and energized than ever.
When I look at my recent content, I am bursting with pride and gratitude. I am proud that I have allowed myself dream more than one dream. And I am forever thankful to God for planting those dreams in my heart and seeing them through to fruition. I would be nowhere without Him.
My heart is also full of thanks for my mom and husband, AKA my photographers. No one sees behind the scenes to know everything they do. My mom is my biggest cheerleader and without her, I wouldn’t have been able to take my content to the next level. She gives everything to everyone and still finds time to drop it all and come running when I say I need her. And while Adam isn’t the fondest of being behind the camera, (he HATES taking pictures in public) he still does it. Every time I ask him. I wouldn’t be at this point without their support. Thank you both. You know how much I love you. You’re my heart.
I also want to say thank you to all the brands I have worked with over the past few years. I look back and think how amazing it is that some of you ever took a chance on me. But can I just say how glad I am that you did? Thank you. You have made this journey such a fun and wonderful experience for me.
And finally, a huge thanks to all of you, my readers. Vogue for Breakfast would not still be around if it were not for each of you that subscribe to my blog, follow me on Instagram, Facebook, etc. I can’t say how much it means to me when you take the time to read my posts, comment on my pictures, send me DMs, everything. I appreciate it all. This whole thing started because I wanted to be able to connect with you. I love sharing fashion and beauty and photography with all of you, and I love encouraging each of you on your own journeys in life. You have strengthened my heart in this venture of mine, and I am forever grateful for each of you. Thank you. I wish each of you a wonderful holiday season with family and friends. I pray that I could one day be a blessing to you, just as you have been to me.
“I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy.” Philippians 1: 3-4
